Welcome to McKenzie Elementary School Library!!

Your child will visit the library one day a week for a 50 minute class period. Students in grades 1 - 4 will begin checking out books the first week of school. Kindergarten students will begin checking out books at the end of the first six weeks. We will spend the first 6 weeks discussing book care, responsibility, and library manners.

Please find a special place in your home for your child's library book. Have your chlld place the book there each day so that you will know where it is located.

If a book is not returned, your child will not be able to check out a book the next week. Overdue notices will be sent home when a book is not returned for 2 weeks.

If a book is damaged, please return it to the library immediately. Please do not try to repair the book yourself. If the book is damaged beyond repair, the book must be paid for in order for your child to check out another book or to receive a report card.

Birthday Idea - Why not honor your child by donating money to purchase a book in honor of him/her to be placed in our library? A bookplate will be placed in the front of the book with your child's name. Give the gift of reading!!

ACCELERATED READER FIELD TRIP GUIDELINES

1. The top ten point earners from both 1st and 2nd grade and the top 20 from 3rd and 4th grade combined will be invited to attend the field trip.

2. Students must be reading at or above his/her present grade level.

3. Students must have an average of 85% correct or higher.

4. Students can not have any discipline infraction related to Accelerated Reader during the school year (i.e. cheating on test, etc.)
